Central Adoption Registry

Policy

Children shall be prepared for an adoptive home in a manner that is age-appropriate and sensitive to their individual needs.

The Adoption Registry shall identify children whose permanency goal indicates they will be available for adoption.

Procedures

For a child to be identified in the Adoption Registry, ensure that the child's active case plan goal is adoption. For more information see Selecting an Adoptive Family.

Documentation

Update Guardian within five days of a change in the child's legal status, caregiver, adoption finalization, or when there is a death of a child.

The DCS Central Office Adoption Specialist or designee is responsible for entering children in the custody of the Division of Developmental Disabilities into the Adoption Registry and updating the status of these children in the Registry.

To prepare for an adoptive home ensure the child's person record contains updated information in the Health Plan.
